Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting the delivery of a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support engineering and project delivery activities within a multidisciplinary project team.
The role will contribute to the development and execution of electrical systems supporting large-scale energy facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical infrastructure across the design, construction, and commissioning phases of the project.
The Role
Reporting to the Jacket Engineering Coordinator, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems within complex energy infrastructure projects.
The position involves working closely with engineering teams, vendors, and construction personnel to ensure electrical systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and support the design of electrical power distribution systems including LV, MV, and HV networks
- Assess key engineering deliverables such as single-line diagrams, load lists, cable schedules, grounding systems, and lighting layouts
- Evaluate and approve electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, batteries, and motors
- Support electrical system studies such as load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash assessments, and protection coordination
- Review vendor documentation, technical specifications, and procurement documentation including equipment datasheets and bid evaluations
- Coordinate with engineering disciplines, procurement teams, and construction teams to ensure effective integration of electrical systems
- Support installation activities and ensure electrical works are carried out in accordance with approved designs and industry standards
- Participate in inspection, testing, commissioning, and acceptance testing activities for electrical equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting during installation and commissioning phases and provide support to operations teams when required
Skills & Experience
- Experience in electrical engineering within oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems and associated equipment
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification and electrical equipment selection
- Experience using electrical system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, or DigSILENT
- Knowledge of electrical protection systems, earthing, lighting, and lightning protection
- Strong analytical and coordination skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within electrical engineering for energy or industrial projects
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Additional Information
The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
