What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Controls Engineer, you’ll support the design and development of automated control systems, contributing to everything from panel design to PLC programming and customer interfacing. Core responsibilities include:

  • Designing control panels compliant with UL508A, CSA 22.2, and NEC standards.
  • Programming PLCs, HMIs, smart relays, and VFDs from major manufacturers.
  • Selecting electrical components and hardware based on system requirements.
  • Reviewing project plans, generating submittal packages, and identifying exceptions.
  • Creating and updating detailed electrical schematics and layouts using EPLAN Electric P8.
  • Maintaining accurate "as-built" documentation and project correspondence.
  • Supporting BOM creation and cost reporting to assist with budgeting.
  • Adapting to project changes quickly by proposing alternative components or solutions.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders on quality control, schedule updates, and issue resolution.
  • Quoting new projects with accurate engineering and material estimates.
  • Developing relationships with key suppliers like Siemens, ABB, Mitsubishi, and Eaton.
  • Acting as a customer-facing technical representative throughout the project process.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering or industrial automation.
  • Experience developing controls from sequences of operations.
  • Proficiency in PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi) and industrial networking.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (UL508A, NEC, NEMA).
  • Working knowledge of EPLAN P8 or similar CAD tools.
