Electrical Designer
Onsite: Mobile, AL (Chemical Plant)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer for an immediate onsite assignment supporting a major industrial chemical manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for developing and modifying electrical design packages, supporting plant capital projects, and collaborating with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical design drawings, layouts, and construction packages for industrial facility projects.
- Prepare and revise single-line diagrams, power distribution drawings, lighting plans, cable schedules, conduit routing, and equipment layouts.
- Perform field walk-downs to verify existing conditions and gather design information.
- Support engineering teams with electrical design calculations and equipment selection.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, instrumentation, and civil disciplines.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and plant specifications.
- Assist with project planning, cost estimating, and construction support activities.
- Review vendor drawings and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
- Provide technical support during project execution, installation, and startup activities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of electrical design experience in industrial facilities, preferably within chemical, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, or process industries.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Experience developing electrical construction and design packages.
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems, motor controls, lighting systems, grounding, and industrial electrical standards.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and applicable industry codes and standards.
- Ability to conduct field investigations and work effectively in an operating plant environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting capital projects in a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and industrial electrical equipment.
- Previous experience working onsite at operating industrial facilities.
Work Environment
- Full-time onsite position.
- Immediate project need.
- Work will be performed within an active industrial manufacturing facility, requiring adherence to all safety procedures and site requirements.
