Job Summary
Apply electrical design knowledge to the design, development, and production of Wagstaff AT equipment. Employee is expected to be an active and key participant in product, process, and employee development as directed.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Read, understand, and interpret electrical drawings
- Create design documents including, but not limited to drawings, bills of material, electrical schematics, wire schedules and software necessary for equipment production, including electrical component selection
- Create and maintain electrical design and manufacturing standards to ensure equipment is produced in accordance with NEC and UL standards
- Review customer designs for compliance with UL 508 A and the Electric Code, bringing any nonconformance’s to the attention of the project manager
- Prepare and release design documents to manufacturing
- Accurately estimate hours to complete design tasks
- Anticipate potential design issues and provide possible solutions to minimize impact on productivity, production schedules, and/or the customer
- Initiate and lead department efforts in the areas of process and product improvement including associated training programs and tools
- Ability to implement effective decision-making in a time-sensitive environment
- Exhibit proficiency, efficiency, and competence in completing assigned tasks
- Participate in the setup, testing, installation and commissioning of electro-mechanical systems, including of associated reports
- Demonstrated understanding of Engineering’s role within the Wagstaff AT organization with respect to the department’s internal customers and suppliers
- Exceptional ability to interact constructively and efficiently with others
- Abide by company policies
- In order to achieve business objectives, occasional work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an electrical designer
- Demonstrated working knowledge of UL 508A and the Electric Code
- Can read, understand, and interpret electrical drawings in different formats
- Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate.
This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
