CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, salaried, exempt (Professional Exemption)

LOCATION: Albuquerque, NM (Remote may be acceptable)


Electrical Design Engineering Manager – Renewable Energy Projects

Gridworks is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineering Manager to assist in design development for utility scale solar and battery energy storage projects. The Electrical Design Engineering Manager will supervise a small team of Electrical Design Engineers and will lead the design development for the project in conjunction with the project CAD Technician.

JOB DESCRIPTION


Design and Development

  • Create detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts using specialized software tools with the CAD Technician.
  • Design and develop electrical systems, components, and equipment from concept through production.

Engineering Analysis

  • Build models using industry standard software (ETAP, Cymcap, and WinIGS, etc)
  • Perform calculations and simulations to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical designs.
  • Evaluate and analyze electrical systems to identify areas for improvement or optimization.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including CAD technicians, project managers, and construction managers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with Innovations and Standards Dept, suppliers and vendors through the procurement manager to select appropriate components and materials for designs.
  • Coordinate design development with other engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility of designs.

Documentation

  • Organize project engineering documentation including design drawings, details, testing plans, and general submittals.
  • Ensure all designs and processes comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop or support development of Bill of Materials (BOM) for project.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of electrical design processes.


WORK ENVIORNMENT

  • The ideal candidate should be physically able to sit in front of a computer every workday for long hours at a time.
  • This job could operate in the main office or remote.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and headsets.
  • Work can be fast-paced and demanding during peak seasons in project development


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This is largely a sedentary role working in an office environment. This position would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stoop, kneel or stand as necessary, manual dexterity necessary to operate office equipment as necessary to perform all aspects of the job.


POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time position.
  • You may be required to infrequently work weekends or after normal business hours to support project needs.
  • Flex-schedules are negotiable.


TRAVEL

  • Limited travel is expected in this position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering, ABET accreditation
  • Professional Engineering license, NM
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of electrical principles, components, and systems
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Bluebeam,
  • Experience generating electrical studies utilizing modeling software: ETAP, WinIGS, Cymcap, PVsyst


EXPIERENCE

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to coordinate between multiple engineering disciplines
  • High quality organizational skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable standards: IEEE, NEC, IEC, etc.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise a small team of electrical design engineers
