Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge automation and advanced manufacturing technology?

We're looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering company developing bespoke automated equipment for high-tech manufacturing environments. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging, low-volume, high-value machinery where you'll take ownership of designs from concept through to production.

\n

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll design sophisticated electrical systems for precision automation equipment while contributing to the development of next- products used by global manufacturers.

The Role\n

You'll be responsible for the electrical design of complex capital equipment, producing high-quality schematics, control panel designs and documentation while ensuring compliance with relevant electrical safety standards.

Key Responsibilities\n

  • Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and single-line diagrams using EPlan Electric P8.
  • \n

  • Design control panels, power distribution systems, motion control panels and wiring harnesses.
  • \n

  • Perform electrical calculations including power/load analysis, component selection and safety assessments.
  • \n

  • Ensure designs comply with CE/UKCA requirements and relevant industry standards.
  • \n

  • Manage design documentation, BOMs and configuration control.
  • \n

  • Support prototype builds, testing and design validation.
  • \n

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • \n

  • Liaise with suppliers to support production and resolve technical issues.
  • \n

  • Provide technical support to internal engineering teams when required.
  • \n

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, engineering standards and future product development.
  • \n

About You\n

You'll have experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery or automated equipment and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges.

Essential Skills & Experience\n

    \n
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical design for industrial machinery, automation or capital equipment.
  • \n

  • Strong proficiency with EPlan Electric P8.
  • \n

  • Experience designing control panels, motion control systems and power distribution.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards including IEC 60204-1, ISO 13849 and CE/UKCA compliance.
  • \n

  • Experience producing complete electrical documentation including schematics, BOMs and build instructions.
  • \n

  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • \n

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • \n

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • \n

Desirable\n

    \n
  • Experience with laser systems, optics or precision automation equipment.
  • \n

  • Product development from concept through to production.
  • \n

  • Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar document management systems.
  • \n

  • Six Sigma, 8D or Root Cause Analysis.
  • \n

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
  • \n
