We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Life Sciences group in Broomfield, CO or Lenexa, KS. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to complex, high-impact projects that shape the future of the life sciences and industrial manufacturing sectors.

What You’ll Do

You’ll play a key role in designing electrical systems that power critical environments — from cleanrooms to R&D labs.

• Develop design calculations, layouts, and construction documents for biopharmaceutical and industrial facility projects.

• Create technical query documents and provide design clarifications as needed.

• Support engineering studies and facility assessments for life sciences clients.

• Collaborate with architects, structural, mechanical, process, and automation engineers to deliver integrated solutions.

• Design lighting and power distribution systems for manufacturing and research facilities.

• Specify and design uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and security systems integration.

• Participate in internal design reviews and coordinate with vendors and contractors during design development.

• Maintain a current understanding of electrical codes, standards, and pharmaceutical best practices.

• Support QA/QC processes and review shop drawings for electrical systems and equipment.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• 5+ years of relevant electrical design experience.

• Experience in Life Sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical facilities ( but not required).

• Proficiency in Revit for electrical design and documentation.

• Experience with AutoCAD (a plus for legacy projects).

• Familiarity with electrical analysis tools such as SKM PowerTools or ETAP.

• Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and local codes.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong attention to detail and quality in design documentation.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain).

• Willingness to travel occasionally (10–20%) for client meetings and site visits.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleanroom and critical utility design.

• Familiarity with FDA-regulated facilities and ISPE Baseline Guides.

• Experience designing power distribution for critical manufacturing processes.

• Knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems (Class I, Division 1/2).

• Interest in energy efficiency and sustainability practices.

• Experience with cold storage and controlled temperature facilities.
