Position Overview

As part of the Engineering team, the Electrical Design Engineer I or II is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining aircraft electrical systems and cable assemblies in accordance with Epic Aircraft standards and regulatory requirements.

This position may be filled at either level depending on experience, particularly aerospace-specific experience.

Position Leveling

Electrical Design Engineer I

  • Early-career engineer with foundational electrical design experience
  • Aerospace experience but not required
  • Works under guidance with increasing responsibility

Electrical Design Engineer II

  • Experienced engineer with direct aerospace electrical design experience
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft wiring standards, certification, and regulatory requirements
  • Works independently and may be the focal on small engineering projects and mentor team members

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design and Development:

  • Develop electrical designs, including system wiring diagrams, cable/harness assembly, and installation drawings using 2D and 3D design software.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulatory requirements, industry standards, and aircraft installation requirements (routing separation, bonding, bend radii, etc.)

Analysis and Validation

  • Perform electrical load analysis and power consumption studies
  • Support laboratory testing and validation of electrical systems

Documentation and Configuration

  • Process Engineering Change Documents and maintain drawing revisions.
  • Maintain the accuracy of design data and ensure support of program schedules

Collaboration and Support

  • Provide design support to production and process engineering teams
  • Coordinate with internal and external suppliers to meet certification and program requirements
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR)
  • Work cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Program Management teams

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop strong cross-departmental relationships
  • Support customer issue resolution and communication of schedule commitments
  • Perform other duties as required in support of the department and company

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Qualifications (Engineer I)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 0-3 years of electrical design experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is desired
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English

Additional Qualifications (Engineer II)

  • 3-5+ years of experience in aerospace electrical design
  • Experience with AutoCAD desired, experience with SolidWorks required
  • Thorough understanding of components, processes, equipment, standards, and terminology used in Aerospace cable assembly design
  • Knowledge of aerospace regulatory requirements
  • Experience with aircraft wiring standards, cable routing, and certification processes
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers

  • Manual dexterity for occasional repetitive tasks
  • Ability to meet vision requirements, including close and distance focus and differentiation
