JOB SUMMARY

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-performance systems that meet UL 1008, UL 508, UL 891, and UL 1558 standards. You'll collaborate across disciplines to ensure designs are manufacturable, compliant, and tailored to customer needs, while driving innovation in energy storage, smart grid integration, and next-gen power technologies. Additionally, you may: design and develop custom switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, and generator interfaces, and interpret and apply UL and NEC standards to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance; create and manage detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using PLM, ERP, and Engineering Vault systems; select and specify electrical components based on performance, cost, and availability; collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and work collaboratively with suppliers and other Applied partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant engineering experience (internships and co-ops considered)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical; experience with EPLAN is a plus
  • Familiarity with UL 1008, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, and Electrical Code (NEC) standards
  • Understanding of grid-connected systems and power distribution principles
  • Experience developing and managing BOMs and supporting documentation for manufacturing
  • Testing & Validation: Ability to design and execute safe, effective test procedures for powered prototypes
  • Systems & Tools: Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), ERP systems, and Engineering Vaults
