The Electrical Design Engineer is a key technical resource within Seifert Engineering’s Engineering Services division. This position is responsible for the development, documentation, and implementation of electrical systems and controls that support both new and existing industrial machinery. It combines hands-on engineering expertise with a strong customer service and requires direct interaction with clients to understand operational challenges, propose tailored solutions, and ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into their manufacturing processes.
The engineer works closely with customers across a variety of industries, including automotive, tire and rubber, steel, pulp and paper, and food processing. Their primary focus is to modernize machinery, enhance safety, and improve production efficiency. Responsibilities include designing control panels, electrical distribution systems, automation solutions, and integrating smart manufacturing technologies.
This role also involves ongoing collaboration with Seifert’s internal teams, including mechanical designers, project managers, and field technicians, to translate complex requirements into reliable and maintainable electrical solutions. In addition to office-based design work, the Electrical Design Engineer may support field activities such as site evaluations, equipment start-up and commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure systems function as intended and meet customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design electrical systems and sub-systems for new and upgraded industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Develop detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD tools.
- Select and specify appropriate electrical components and materials based on performance requirements, cost, and availability.
- Perform simulations, calculations, and analyses to verify design functionality, safety, and compliance.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, designers, and project managers during all project phases.
- Support system integration activities, including PLC interface planning and hardware/software coordination.
- Participate in prototype development, functional testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical systems.
- Ensure all designs conform to applicable standards, such as IEC, NEC, UL, and local codes.
- Maintain and update design documentation, including specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), test reports, and as-built drawings.
- Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation, commissioning, and post-installation phases.
- Participate in project planning and contribute to schedule, cost, and resource estimations.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical system design, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering consulting environment.
- Experience with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or Altium Designer.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB).
- Previous work involving power distribution, control panels, or machine control systems .
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of electrical design principles and practices.
- Understanding of industry codes and standards (IEC, NEC, UL).
- Experience with system integration and control networks (PLC, HMI, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and redline electrical blueprints.
- Proficiency in documentation and version control practices.

- PE licensure is but not required.
Working Conditions:
This position involves both office and occasional on-site work in industrial environments. Travel to client locations for meetings, installations, or commissioning may be required.
