Electrical Design Engineer - Grid & Primary Design \n \nLocation: Salford, Manchester \n \nJob Type: Full Time - Hybrid working with flexibility. \n \nSalary: 62,145 - 68,340 based on experience \n\nAt Electricity North West, we power the lives of 5 million people across the North West. As we invest in the future of the region's infrastructure, we're looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Grid and Primary Design team.

If you're passionate about electrical design and want to shape how our grid evolves to meet future demands, we want to hear from you. \n \nThe Role \nAs an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering substation design solutions up to and including 132kV. Working on major capital projects, you'll manage the design process from concept to completion, collaborating closely with project managers, construction engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure quality, safety, and cost-efficiency.

\n \nKey Responsibilities \nLead substation design for Grid and Primary capital projects (up to 132kV). \n \nProduce and implement cost-effective design strategies from outline to detailed design. \n \nDevelop technical specifications and protection setting calculations.

\n \nAct as ENWL's engineer for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of equipment. \n \nManage contractors and liaise with project and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle. \n \nEnsure projects meet key milestone deadlines and regulatory KPIs.

\n \nContribute to design standards and innovate using new techniques and equipment. \n \nWhat We're Looking For? \n \nMinimum HNC in Electrical Engineering (degree , ideally working towards Chartered status).

\n \nStrong technical knowledge of 132kV, 33kV, 11/6.6kV systems, substations, and protection. \n \nExperience in design engineering within the electricity distribution or utilities sector. \n \nUnderstanding of CDM regulations and project safety.

\n \nFamiliarity with AutoCAD, MS Excel, and (ideally) power systems software. \n \nExcellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. \n \nAbility to manage design budgets and deliver to timescales.
