Job DescriptionJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to join a world-class leader in the heavy building materials industry. This role is based in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area and will be responsible for maintaining and improving process control systems and instrumentation for aggregate plant operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in PLCs, process control, and industrial power systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and improve plant automation and control performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot process control systems, instrumentation, and network infrastructure for plant operations.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Electrical Controls Engineer on system maintenance and control projects to ensure reliability and modernization.
  • Analyze control system failures, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Modify and troubleshoot DCS equipment alarms and logic to improve system functionality.
  • Work closely with production teams on interlocking logic and alarm point optimization to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide training and technical support to plant personnel on control systems and automation processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with MSHA and company safety standards while maintaining an injury-free workplace.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending upgrades and process enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field ;
    OR 5+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in process control and instrumentation.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, mining, aggregates, or related industrial environments .
  • Proficiency with PLCs, HMIs, and process control software (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, industrial power (480V4160V), and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with networking technologies, including fiber optics, ControlNet, Ethernet, and DH+.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights up to 350.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, kneel, and walk long distances over rough or uneven terrain.
  • Capable of working in all weather conditions and environments with high noise, vibration, and dust exposure.
  • Some overnight travel is required between plant locations.
