POSTION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager and through collaborative relationships with all members of Neff, the customer, and vendors the Electrical Controls Engineer will collaborate on electrical and controls engineering aspects of solutions projects.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP AND SCOPE
- Directly reports to Engineering Manager.
- This position is non-supervisory.
- Work and communicate professionally with all staff, customers, and vendors.
- This position can be based in either our Indianapolis or Warrendale branch offices.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in climate-controlled settings but may be exposed to wet and/or humid hot and/or cold conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, ear protection is provided when needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- 1 – 2 years of work experience with CAD software or electrical design.
- 2 – 5 years of programming experience with industrial equipment including PLC’s, machine vision systems, motion control and/or robotics is required.
- Pneumatic and electrical circuitry experience is .
SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interprets technical procedures, trade journals, and product information in English.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; talk or hear. The employee is required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
