Electrical Engineer (PLC Specialist)\nNorfolk | £50,000 | 37.5 hours (Early Finish Fridays)\nWe’re recruiting for an Electrical Engineer with strong PLC experience to join a well-established international manufacturing business based in Diss. This is a hands-on, autonomous role focused on fault finding, troubleshooting, and supporting complex electrical and control system issues across a live production environment.\nThe Role\nYou’ll act as the go-to escalation point for medium to high-level electrical and electronic faults, particularly where issues go beyond obvious breakdowns. The role involves regular hands-on support to breakdowns, with a strong emphasis on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
You’ll be heavily involved with PLCs, drives, and control systems, working across both legacy and modern equipment.\nKey Responsibilities\n * Advanced electrical and electronic fault finding (PLCs, drives, sensors)\n * PLC and drive programming/modifications (modification experience considered)\n * Supporting breakdowns and improving system reliability\n * Obsolescence reviews and component upgrades\n * Delivering small automation projects (panel rewires, upgrades, energy initiatives)\n * Supporting larger upgrade projects, including PLC migrations (e.g. S5 to S7)\n * Working closely with OEMs, while remaining hands-on and self-sufficient\nHours & Package\n * 37.5 hours per week (typically 8–4 or 9–5\n * Early finish on Fridays\n * No on-call requirement\n * Salary up to £50,000\nAbout You\n * Ideally 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing or industrial environments\n * Strong electrical, electronics, and controls background\n * Proven fault-finding ability on live production equipment\n * Experience with a range of machinery and PLC/control systems\n * Comfortable working independently with a high level of responsibility\n * Qualifications are less important than experience and attitude\nThe Environment\nYou’ll be part of a 16-person engineering team across various shifts, supporting the double days team.
