Electrical Controls Engineer

The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, testing, commissioning, and support of industrial control systems for automated manufacturing and material handling equipment. This role works closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, electricians, and customers to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient automation solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems and create schematic drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Develop PLC programs using platforms such as Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, and other PLC software.
• Develop and troubleshoot HMI and SCADA applications.
• Configure and commission VFDs, servo drives, remote I/O, safety controllers, and industrial networks.
• Perform electrical calculations, component selection, and panel layout design.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support purchasing with component selection.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and system commissioning.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues both remotely and on-site.
• Ensure all designs comply with NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL, OSHA, and applicable customer standards.
• Prepare technical documentation including electrical drawings, operating manuals, and commissioning reports.
• Provide startup of control design at customer sites.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of electrical designs.
