Electrical Controls Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to join a growing engineering team just outside the New Haven, CT area. This role will focus on the design, documentation, testing, and support of electrical control systems used in industrial automation and gas handling applications.
What Youll Do:
- Ensure all electrical systems comply with NEC, UL, and applicable internal/external codes and safety procedures
- Design control panels and create schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs using AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical
- Build and test prototypes, proofs of concept, and production-grade systems
- Develop test plans to validate system performance, safety, and reliability
- Maintain accurate documentation for designs, BOMs, and assemblies with revision control
- Support and upgrade systems already deployed in the field, including proper change tracking
- Lead or assist in project planning, experiments (DOE), and technical reporting
- Contribute to ongoing performance management processes and quality improvement
- Protect intellectual property by coordinating with engineering/legal teams on patent submissions
- Travel occasionally (up to 10%) for site visits, installations, or support
What You Bring:
- BS in Electrical or Controls Engineering
- PLC Programming, HMI Development.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical)
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation (DVMs, analyzers, etc.)
- Familiarity with environmental and reliability testing protocols
- Working knowledge of electrical safety codes (NEC, UL, FCC); international or CSA codes a bonus
- Robotics experience is a plus
