Job Description
Senior Commissioning Engineer (Contract)\n\nAWE Burghfield\n £60 per hour - Outside IR35\n 5 days per week on site\n SC Clearance required (minimum)\n\nWe are currently seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning activities on a major project at AWE Burghfield. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a hands-on professional with strong electrical and control systems commissioning experience.\n\nRole Overview\n\nReporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will play a key role in the commissioning of electrical and control systems, working closely with construction teams, other trades, and the client to ensure safe, compliant, and successful project delivery.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nMinimum 5 years' hands-on commissioning experience, including electrical systems and control panels\nLoop testing, fault finding, and strong working knowledge of process control systems\nSupport the Construction Manager with supervision of on-site electrical installation works in line with design documentation and client standards\nCommissioning of PLC control systems, HMI and SCADA during initial commissioning phases\n (Siemens S7 - TIA Portal experience essential)\nFault finding and modifications within control panels\nElectrical testing, fault diagnosis, calibration, and instrumentation setup including:\nPressure transducers\nFlow meters\nDifferential pressure and vacuum systems\nPneumatics\nExperience with leak testing (e.g. Parjo testing, pressure drop testing)\nExperience conducting load testing\nWork collaboratively with multiple trades during installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment\nEnsure all customer and project requirements are met or exceeded during commissioning and handover\nDeliver training on new and existing equipment during and after commissioning activities\nCompletion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for installed systems\nAccurate recording of as-built information and updates to drawings and commissioning documentation \n\nMinimum Clearance\n\nSC Clearance (must be current or eligible) \n\nQualifications & Certifications\n\nTime-served Engineering Apprenticeship\nCity & Guilds 2391-52 - Inspection & Testing\nCity & Guilds 2382-22 - 18th Edition Wiring Regulations\nCSCS Professional Persons / ECS Electrical\nSMSTS - Desirable\nFirst Aid at Work (3 Day)Onsite Training (Provided)\n\nTest Team Leader (TTL)\nAppointed Person (Commissioning) - NP(C)\nElectrical Safety Training \n\nWhy Apply?\n\n£60/hour Outside IR35\nHigh-profile, long-term programme at AWE\nTechnically challenging role with real responsibility\nStable 5-day onsite working pattern \n\nInterested?\n Apply now or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
