Role Purpose:
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer/Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, supervising and executing the commissioning and installation of electrical systems (primarily low-voltage switchgear, modular power solutions, critical distribution infrastructure) to ensure handover to clients meets performance, safety, and quality standards.
You will act as the technical lead on site, supervising contractors, coordinating with internal teams and ensuring that commissioning activities are completed on schedule, safely, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise on-site commissioning activities for electrical distribution equipment (low voltage switchgear, modular solutions, power pods) from installation through to final handover.

Develop and execute detailed commissioning plans, including witness testing, equipment integration, functional tests, and documentation for handover to clients.

Review electrical schematics, site installation drawings, mechanical and electrical interfaces to ensure readiness for commissioning.
*
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, internal technical teams and clients to ensure all parties understand commissioning requirements and timelines.

Monitor site progress, produce status reports, highlight risks/issues and drive corrective action to keep commissioning on schedule.

Ensure compliance with all health, safety, quality and environmental (QHSE) requirements; conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and risk assessments.

Provide supervision and mentoring to commissioning engineers/technicians and subcontractors on site; ensure work is performed to specification and standard.

Witness and certify completion of commissioning/testing, complete handover documentation, certificates and client sign-off.
*
Promote continuous improvement: feedback to design/manufacturing teams on commissioning performance, suggest improvements for future installations.

Liaise with clients and site staff to ensure smooth transition from installation to operational status and ensure client satisfaction.
Person Specification / Requirements
*
Electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
*
Proven track-record of commissioning electrical distribution equipment, especially LV switchgear, modular power systems, in a plant, data centre or industrial environment. (Experience in HV a plus).
*
Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems, wiring, panels, switchgear, control systems and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and layouts.
*
Experience supervising site teams, contractors and working as a lead engineer/supervisor.
*
Good knowledge of health & safety legislation, safe systems of work, permit to work procedures, method statements, risk assessments.
*
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills (internal team, clients, contractors).
*
Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritise tasks, and deliver under pressure to deadlines.
*
Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites (within UK) as required.
*
ECS, CSCS or equivalent site accreditation . Manual handling, working at height certifications desirable.
*
Attention to detail, high standard of workmanship, focus on quality, safety and delivery.
*
Flexible working mindset – may be required to attend site out-of-hours, weekends or emergency call-outs depending on project needs
