They are looking for an experienced Electrical Automation and Programming Technician to ensure the functionality, reliability and continuous improvement of industrial automation systems.\n\nThe strategically important Electrical Automation and Programming Technician roles comes with a competitive salary, private medical and dental, car allowance and additional benefits package. \n\nIf you're an experienced Electrical Automation and Programming Technician and are looking to work for a leading business in the renewable energy sector, then submit your CV to apply today.\n\nResponsibilities and duties of the Electrical Automation and Programming Technician role\n\nReporting to the Group Leader you will:\n\nDiagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve remote SCADA/PLC issues across various automation platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, WinCC, TIA Portal, etc.)\nProvide real-time technical support to commissioning and field service teams during startup and maintenance\nConfigure and maintain industrial networks, remote access tools, and system alarms\nSupport retrofit projects and ensure compatibility of updated automation components\nDevelop, optimize, and test PLC, SCADA, HMI, and telemetry programs (e.g., Siemens S7, WinCC, C/C++, Python, Linux)\nAssist in commissioning of new systems remotely or in collaboration with field technicians\nCollaborate cross-functionally with field service, engineering, and sales for technical proposals and system design\nCreate and maintain user manuals, programming standards, and operating procedures\nDocument interventions, updates, and remote diagnostics using ERP/service management systems (e.g., IFS, SAP)\nConduct risk assessments related to automation systems and proposed preventive actions\nOther duties as required \n\nProfessional qualifications \n\nWe are looking for someone with the following:\n\nBachelor's degree or diploma in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields\nFull UK Driving Licence \n\nPersonal skills \n\nThe Electrical Automation and Programming Technician role would suit someone who has:\n\nMinimum 5+ years in automation programming, SCADA/PLC development, and remote technical support.\nProficiency in Siemens (Simatic S7, TIA Portal), Rockwell, WinCC, C, C++, Python, Linux, HMI, and Visu.\nHappy to travel UK wide and also overseas\nExperience with remote troubleshooting, networking, and cybersecurity for industrial automation systems.\nFamiliarity with industrial maintenance processes, ERP systems (IFS, MS Dynamics NAV), and technical documentation standards.\nFluent in the local and English, another is a plus \n\nSalary and benefits of the Electrical Automation and Programming Technician role \n\nCompetitive salary depending on experience\nCar allowance\nPrivate medical and dental\n28 days holiday plus bank holidays\nAdditional benefits discussed at interview\n #LI-AR1\n INDREN\n\nAstute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
