An automation company in Greer is hiring an experienced electrical panel builder into its electrical fabrication team. This is a permanent replacement seat on a funded requirement, not speculative headcount.
\n
They design and build custom automation equipment — transfer systems, conveyor systems, threading and process tables — for manufacturers across a range of industries. Every machine is built to a customer's specification, so the panel work is varied rather than the same build on repeat.
\n
The internal title for this role is Electrical Fabrication Technician Level 3. You would report to the Electrical Foreman.

What you'll be doing

- Building and wiring custom control panels from electrical schematics, blueprints and assembly drawings
- Installing PLCs, relays, sensors, instruments and other components using hand tools, power tools and soldering equipment
- Aligning and joining wires, terminals and components onto panels
- Routing and lacing cable, terminating, ferruling and labelling to spec
- Routing and attaching wires and connectors to form circuitry, connecting assemblies to power supplies, switch panels and junction boxes
- Diagnosing and testing parts, whole systems and finished products using multimeter, oscilloscope and amp meter
- Examining parts for defects and replacing defective components and wiring
- Completing records, logs, time keeping and job tracking
- Working to the company's standards, specifications and tolerances, on schedule and on budget

What you need
\n
- \n
- 7+ years building electrical control panels. 10+ years and weighted more heavily
- Confident reading and building from electrical schematics and blueprints
- Experience or exposure to UL 508A, NFPA 79 or NEC on panel builds. Any of the three counts, and this is tested in conversation rather than on paper — no certificate required
- Working knowledge of PLCs, robotics and Ethernet communications as they relate to panel build and installation
- Competent with multimeter, oscilloscope and amp meter, plus correct hand and power tools
- Comfortable with Outlook, Word and Excel
- Living within commuting distance of Greer, SC. There is no relocation package on this role
- Authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

This is panel building, not harness or PCB work. Wire harness assembly, cable assembly and board-level electronics are a different trade and will not meet the requirement.

- Electrical CAD familiarity — SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN. None of these is required
- Electrical certifications, courses or a degree in an electrical field. Absence of these will not count against you

About the interview
\n
Two to three stages: a virtual call, an on-site interview, and a practical panel build to print at the Greer facility. Wire, ferrules and tools are supplied.
\n
If you build panels for a living, that last stage is the point. You get judged on what you can do on the bench rather than how your résumé reads.

- $30.00–$35.00 per hour depending on experience
- Overtime paid at time and a half. At the top of the band that puts overtime at $52.50/hr
- 40 hours per week, with occasional additional hours on Fridays and weekends
- Roughly 90% on-site in Greer, with around 10% travel to client sites
- Hourly, permanent, immediate start

Physical requirements

Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs, and corrected vision including close, distance and vision with the ability to adjust focus.
