Walker Engineering is seeking to add to our talented team of professionals. We are currently seeking experienced Electrical Apprentices in the Austin Metro. If you are an experienced Apprentice and meet/ exceed the requirements below, we would like to meet you!
This position will work under the guidance of a Journeyman level electrician assisting in the installation of electrical systems on commercial work sites. Applicants must be willing to work Overtime as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
- Performs underground layout and rough-in.
- Determines wire and conduit sizing.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
- Installs BUSS feeders.
- Performs switchgear installation and terminations.
- Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
- Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
- Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
- Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
Position Requirements:
- Hold a current Apprentice (TDLR) License.
- Minimum 4 years commercial experience.
- Must be willing to work 2nd and 3rd shift.
- Must be willing to work Overtime as needed.
- Skilled at installing branch conduit, pulling branch wire, installing MC Cable, installing fixtures and devices.
- Understands production & material management.
- Are skilled in the tools and installation methods used in commercial construction.
- Understand the proper installation methods for electrical materials used in commercial construction.
- Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English skills.
- MUST understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime if required.
- Have reliable transportation.
Education Requirements:
- High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
