Salary: Up to £100,000 (depending on experience)

The EHV Estimator will join a growing commercial team delivering extra-high-voltage electrical transmission projects across the UK. The role plays a key part in the successful tendering of 132kV to 400kV schemes, supporting major grid, transmission, and energy infrastructure programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare competitive tenders for electrical transmission projects ranging from 132kV to 400kV.

  • Produce detailed cost estimates and quotations for new connections and turnkey EHV projects.

  • Review technical and commercial requirements and coordinate with internal engineering, commercial, and delivery teams prior to submission.

  • Engage with manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop competitive pricing strategies.

  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor returns for compliance with tender documentation.

  • Undertake take-offs from drawings, specifications, and schedules and input data into estimating systems.

  • Draft tender clarifications, exclusions, and supporting commercial documentation.

  • Attend site surveys, route walks, and tender interviews where required.

  • Follow up submitted quotations and provide market intelligence to internal teams.

  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and commercial governance.

  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of estimating and commercial data across internal systems.

Requirements & Experience

Essential

  • Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong knowledge of the EHV transmission sector (132kV–400kV).

  • Proven experience tendering large-scale transmission, energy, or major infrastructure projects.

  • Experience managing commercially sensitive and confidential information.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital collaboration platforms.

Desirable

  • Experience with estimating or commercial management software.

  • Experience working across geographically dispersed project teams.

  • Willingness to support and mentor junior estimators as the team grows.
