EH&S Environmental Engineer
Location: Fullerton, CA 92833; support also includes El Segundo, CA
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Duration: 12-month contract with potential extension
Schedule: First shift, 5/40 schedule
Pay Rate: $33.00/hour on W-2
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship required

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, motivated EH&S Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance, OSHA Voluntary Protection Program initiatives, and continuous improvement of a fast-paced engineering and R&D environment. This role partners with employees, leaders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to strengthen environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs across the Fullerton and El Segundo sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage EH&S programs, initiatives, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Support environmental sustainability, occupational safety, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze environmental performance metrics; identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage environmental permitting and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with stakeholders to integrate sustainability initiatives into business operations.
  • Promote environmental awareness and employee engagement through effective communication and outreach.
  • Support regulatory audits, inspections, and agency interactions.
  • Develop and deliver EH&S training and presentations for employees and management.
  • Perform contractor safety oversight activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 1–2 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience.
  • Working knowledge of EPA, DTSC, SCAQMD, OC Health Care Agency, Cal OSHA, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of SPCC, CERS, RCRA, Universal Waste, hazardous-waste, refrigerant, and air-quality-management requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, apply sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder-engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with regulatory agencies including SCAQMD, DTSC, CUPA, and Cal OSHA during audits and inspections.
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA Voluntary Protection Program elements.
  • Experience developing and presenting EH&S training.
  • Experience with contractor safety management and oversight.
  • Background supporting aerospace, defense, engineering, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
