What does this role involve day to day?

  • Working hands-on with a varied range of off-highway construction and agricultural vehicles to develop, debug, and integrate electrical distribution systems.
  • Using CAD tools to define vehicle electrical schematics and produce wiring harness drawings (Zuken E3 ).
  • Collaborate with product teams to influence and determine the electrical system requirements for future JCB products.
  • Conducting electrical validation testing on rigs and on vehicle.
  • Investigating and performing benchmarking of emerging technologies within the domain to inform technology roadmaps for JCB’s wider engineering team.
  • Working with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve your project goals.
  • Structuring and BOM management of electrical assemblies.
  • Primarily based in low voltage DC, however JCB machines also feature hazardous voltage and AC mains voltage classes.

For senior roles:

  • Peer reviewing technical drawings.
  • Leading structured problem-solving processes with multi-disciplined teams, driving critical thinking and process adherence.
  • Electrical part specification and sign off.
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers.

This will be suited to you if…

  • You have relevant domain experience and can work independently, applying sound electrical engineering theory to your work with drive and passion.
  • You hold a degree qualification in an electrical engineering discipline.
  • You are confident working under pressure and making decisions.
  • You communicate clearly and concisely.
  • You enjoy getting up out of your seat and applying your knowledge hands on.
  • You have a practical understanding of vehicle systems, and “how things work”.
  • You have a desire to learn and develop.
