Join our dynamic maintenance team supporting JFK Airport’s Early Baggage System (EBS) at Terminal 1. This entry-level position is ideal for hands-on individuals eager to learn, assist with the operation and maintenance of baggage systems—including BHS (baggage conveyor systems), Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB), and auxiliary equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repairs of the Early Baggage System.
• Monitor baggage handling systems from the control room and respond to trouble calls.
• Clear jams, run bags, and resolve system faults promptly.
• Perform routine inspections, sensor calibration, and alignment.
• Conduct real-time fault diagnostics to reduce downtime.
• Identify and repair electrical and electronic faults (sensors, wiring).
• Support preventive maintenance of BHS, PBB, and auxiliary equipment.

Qualifications

• Mechanical/electrical maintenance experience or familiarity with conveyor systems, PBB equipment, or material handling equipment is a plus.
• Associate degree in electronics, mechanical repair, or related fields—or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, especially with sensors, wiring, and electrical systems.
• Comfortable reading wiring diagrams, schematics, and sensor layouts.
• Physically capable of lifting and transporting up to 70 lbs.
• Highly detail-focused, proactive, and able to perform under pressure.
• Technically inclined with eagerness to grow in baggage/PBB maintenance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-focused, innovative, and dependable.
• Ability to obtain required security badge (background checks, training).
• Must adhere to OSHA and FAA safety and security standards.
• Must have OSHA 30 and Site Safety Training (SST).
• SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badge requirement .
