Position Summary:
The Drilling Superintendent will be responsible for leading and managing residential and commercial geothermal drilling projects. This role includes oversight of drilling operations, equipment, and personnel while ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Superintendent will evaluate local geology, provide feedback on drill plans, maintain company assets, and manage the daily operations of the drilling team. This position requires a hands-on approach to field operations, equipment maintenance, and staff supervision, as well as compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:
- Lead and manage geothermal drilling projects for residential and commercial clients, ensuring the completion of drilling activities as per project specifications.
- Meet daily drilling footage rates as outlined in project plans.
- Assist in evaluating local geology and collaborate with project managers to refine and develop drill plans.

Equipment & Asset Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of drill rigs, equipment, tooling, trucks, and all other company-owned assets to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment, submitting detailed reports and documentation as required (e.g., drill logs, daily reports, DOT paperwork).
- Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and handling of equipment, tools, and materials.

Field Operations:
- Supervise and participate in all aspects of the company’s field operations, including drilling, site preparation, equipment setup, and project hookup.
- Coordinate the setup and operation of drilling rigs and ancillary equipment on job sites.
- Travel out of town for field assignments, as required, and be available for extended periods of time.

Staff Supervision & Training:
- Supervise, mentor, and train assigned field personnel, ensuring that safety protocols are adhered to and that drilling operations are carried out efficiently.
- Provide clear communication to staff on project goals, daily expectations, and performance standards.
- Work closely with other company drillers to ensure successful project execution.

Compliance & Reporting:
- Maintain strict adherence to all state, local, and federal laws and regulations, including environmental, safety, and licensing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all Allied company policies and enforce these policies among team members.
- Complete and submit all required documentation, including daily drilling reports, equipment inspections, and safety checklists.

Licensing & Qualifications:
- Obtain and maintain any required out-of-state drilling licenses and certifications.
- Ensure that personal and company vehicles and equipment are driven in compliance with all applicable regulations and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license.

Miscellaneous:
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working under other company drillers or in various other operational roles as required.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in geothermal drilling or related industry.
- Proven experience managing drilling operations and overseeing personnel in the field.
- Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret local geology and incorporate that information into drill planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet daily production goals and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and the ability to transport company vehicles and equipment.
- Willingness to travel and work in various locations, including out-of-town assignments.
- Strong adherence to safety practices and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and ensure quality control on all projects.
Qualifications:
- Experience in geothermal energy projects specifically, with a focus on residential and commercial drilling.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices in the geothermal industry.
- First Aid/CPR certification and other safety-related training.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including outdoor environments, inclement weather, and confined spaces.
