Key ResponsibilitiesWe are currently seeking a Drilling Assistant to join our team based out of our Canton, MI office. This is a field-based, hands-on role supporting our drilling operations, which are primarily focused on geotechnical and environmental subsurface investigations.
As the right-hand person to the Lead Driller, you’ll play a critical part in helping to safely and efficiently operate drill rigs and perform field investigations. This is an entry-level opportunity with on-the-job training provided — a great fit for someone looking to begin a career in the geotechnical, environmental, or construction fields.
Key Responsibilities:· Assist with operation of drill rigs on geotechnical and environmental projects· Support the Lead Driller with equipment setup, drilling operations, and site cleanup· Handle and transport drilling tools and materials· Perform manual labor and lift heavy equipment and samples (up to 50 lbs)· Maintain a clean and organized worksite· Follow all safety procedures and protocols· Accurately complete field documentation as needed· Travel to job sites across the region (primarily field-based work)· Adapt to varying start times based on project location (typically early morning)· Work 8–10 hour days, with weekly hours ranging from 40 to 60 depending on workload
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseQualifications:· High School Diploma or GED required· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment· Strong work ethic and reliability are a must· Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Additional Information:· This is a field-based position — majority of time will be spent on active job sites· Occasional travel may be required depending on project locations· PPE and safety training will be provided
