YOUR NEW ROLE:


The Dredge Booster Pump Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring booster pump stations used in hydraulic dredging operations. This role ensures optimal performance of the booster to maintain continuous material flow through the pipeline, supporting the overall dredging operation. This is not a live-on dredge. We provide per diem, and employees are responsible for their lodging and meals.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Dredge Booster Pump Operator is responsible for maintenance of the boats assigned. Additional duties may include, but will not be limited to, operating other equipment, and/or performing maintenance duties, with the primary focus on safe overall operations of your assigned equipment.This position will report to the Dredge Superintendent.

  • Operate and monitor dredge booster pump equipment during dredging operations.
  • Start, stop, and adjust pump speeds and engine parameters to regulate pressure and flow rate.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on engines, pumps, fuel systems, and associated components.
  • Monitor gauges, meters, and computer systems for signs of abnormal pressure, temperature, or vibration.
  • Communicate with dredge operators, tender boats, and shore teams to coordinate efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic problems and escalate complex issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain logs and records of pump performance, maintenance, and fuel/oil consumption.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
  • Assist with fueling, lubricating, and cleaning pump equipment.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
  • Upholds the Companys commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures
  • Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE
  • Loads and unloads materials from the dredge, deck barges, scows, and miscellaneous dredging equipment
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with the maintenance program.
  • Keep inventory of spares and consumables.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Assists with work on the anchors and spud systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the project site management

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in dredging, marine, or heavy equipment operations .
  • Ability to read pressure gauges, flow meters, and operate control systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting and repair knowledge.
  • The position requires 12-hour workdays 7 days a week.
  • Current OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certifications.
  • Valid TWIC card.
  • Knowledge of small motor vessel operations.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote jobsite locations for extended periods.
  • Open water experience
  • Experience working on large twin-screw vessels
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engine systems.
  • Maintenance experience
  • Prior Deckhand experience
  • Understanding of dredge process
  • Understanding dredge pipeline work in open water
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.
  • Must be reliable and motivated.
  • Knowledge of operation of various types of marine equipment, tools, and devices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results driven.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Drug screening and background check required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.

This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFDs), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. In addition, a Boatman must also be capable of: walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
