Responsibilities:
- Analyze, plan, and manage supply chain activities and material flow to maximize customer value and service, and achieve sustainable competitive advantage, as well as optimal costs.
- Directly supervise a team of employees in related area. Reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.
- Develop continuously improving procurement strategy to optimize all costs and contribution to achievement of Company formal annual business plans.
- Develop and implement systems to assure optimal inventory levels and on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements, while minimizing inventory carrying costs.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and conduct on-going assessment of supplier quality and service.
- Drive and manage continual advancement and requirement of implementation of and adherence to APQP principles and processes down thru our key suppliers consistent with the related specific requirements of our Company by our major customers.
- Investigate, solve and prevent problems resulting from material shortages.
- Responsible for continuing improvement of established suppliers, and also development of new suppliers and processes to achieve the best quality, reliability, prices, continuity and delivery.
- Keep informed about materials, markets and materials pricing trends that affect company pricing and profitability.
- Work with both internal and external customers to develop solutions which meet company-wide needs and objectives.
- Use technical/analytical abilities to assure existing work practices are the most efficient and cost effective as possible.
- Promote spirit of cooperation and teamwork within his/her department.
Qualifications:
- Highly accomplished and seasoned Supply Chain professional with extensive procurement background, and effective staff leadership and management experience in a manufacturing operation.
- Extensive experience with a durable product manufacturer preferable in CNC machining, metal fabrication, welding or foundries. Knowledge of raw materials and other manufacturing processes such as plating, welding, heat treating, and casting is important.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Production Operations, Engineering or related field . APICS certification a plus.
- Strong and proven leadership characteristics with an ability to manage and develop teams. Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus.
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills with team members, peers, vendors and customers.
- Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others.
- Critical strategic analytical and planning skills applied to identify weaknesses and strengths of alternative solutions or approaches to opportunities.
- Strong ERP/MRP and procurement systems acumen, including also Microsoft Office resources such as Excel.
- Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methods such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Sound knowledge of basic manufacturing economics.
- Ability to develop and prepare process documentation, technical reports and presentations.
- Participates in evaluation and makes recommendations for direct supervisor and Human Resources approval related to hiring and terminations.
