As we expand, we seek a dynamic Director of Purchasing to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in optimizing our supply chain operations.
Position Summary
The Director of Purchasing will oversee all aspects of the purchasing and procurement functions, collaborating closely with supply chain management, operations, and key internal stakeholders. This leader will develop and execute strategies to ensure reliable supply, cost control, inventory optimization, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced distribution environment and brings experience managing diverse vendor networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing department, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Develop, implement, and monitor purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices to support efficiency and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable contracts and terms.
- Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize supply disruptions.
- Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers to meet quality, reliability, and sustainability standards.
- Lead initiatives to implement new sourcing technologies and tools.
- Prepare and manage the purchasing budget, delivering on cost, quality, and service objectives.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals while adhering to regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (master’s ).
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in purchasing or supply chain roles, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership position.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with sourcing, inventory management, supplier relationship management, and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change, implement process improvements, and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Experience in wholesale distribution or related industries is highly advantageous.
