ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Engineering Services will lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of engineering initiatives across the organization. This role oversees multiple engineers, ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions that align with business goals. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a proven track record in technical management, team leadership, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Manages and directs staff in the planning, development and maintenance of technology infrastructure, including planning and budgeting. Coordinates activities with managers from both administrative and infrastructure areas.

The Details: This is a full-time position with a preference for candidates located in the Puget Sound, WA area. This is a hybrid role, with an expected on-site presence at office in Tacoma, WA 2–3 days per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy to meet business objectives.
  • Drive innovation by implementing industry best practices, emerging technologies, and modern methodologies.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align engineering goals with organizational priorities.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence across all engineering teams.
  • Provide guidance and career development opportunities for engineering managers and technical staff.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the planning and execution of engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with quality standards.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of engineering initiatives.
  • Optimize workflows, resource allocation, and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.

Technology Management

  • Ensure the engineering team delivers secure, robust, and scalable solutions.
  • Partner with Product Management, IT, and other departments to ensure successful cross-functional collaboration.
  • Stay informed of technological advancements and lead the adoption of relevant technologies.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Manage budgets for engineering services, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to optimize value.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3-7 years of supporting a large enterprise environment
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering roles, including 5+ years in leadership capacity
  • Manage and lead engineers who oversee production services
  • Direct and coordinate production, operations, quality assurance, testing, and maintenance
  • Hire, train, and mentor other engineers and supporting staff
    • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience

    SALARY RANGE

    This position offers an annual salary range of $130,000 - $150,000, plus bonus opportunity. Exact salary will depend on the candidate’s experience, education and geographic location
