Position Overview:
The Director of IT Infrastructure and Security is responsible for leading the strategic direction and day-to-day management of all infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity functions across the organization. This role oversees production environments (on-premises and cloud-based), desktop and mobile technologies, networking systems, data management, communications, A/V, and telephony, ensuring consistent operational excellence and security.
The Director will work closely with Managed Service Providers to support the organization's growing portfolio of cloud-based business systems and will manage the evolving information and technology needs of both internal teams and external stakeholders. This individual serves as a trusted advisor to the VP/CIO, providing insight into emerging trends in cybersecurity, infrastructure management, disaster recovery, business continuity, and innovation in technology operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic and tactical planning for all IT infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives.
- Ensure the performance, availability, and security of core IT systems and services.
- Manage and support servers, networks, desktop environments, and associated hardware/software.
- Oversee cloud operations and collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers.
- Drive improvements in system performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Align infrastructure and security initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Engage regularly with executive leadership, department heads, and other internal stakeholders.
- Manage the IT infrastructure and security budget, including planning for expenditures and approving purchases.
- Represent the IT function in cross-functional meetings, external committees, and conferences as needed.
Experience:
Candidates should have demonstrated experience with at least six (6) of the following:
- VMware virtualization
- Cisco networking and switching
- Security architecture and firewalls
- SAN (Storage Area Network) data storage
- Vulnerability and intrusion detection/monitoring
- Windows and Linux server administration
- Microsoft 365 and Azure
- IT compliance audits
- Copper and fiber network infrastructure
- Wireless networking
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of ITIL/IT best practices and continuous quality improvement.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, project management, and organizational abilities.
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
