Help us create a better future, quicker

At ScottishPower, we’re committed to building a Net Zero future, and our tax team is central to that mission. As Director of Group Taxation, you will oversee our UK tax operations, reporting directly to the General Counsel as part of the wider Legal Services team, while also serving as a key member of the global Iberdrola Group tax function. You’ll lead our UK tax function, ensuring we manage tax risk, comply with Iberdrola’s Corporate Tax Policy, and optimise our group tax position.

You’ll play a key role in commercial transactions and investment decisions, helping shape the future of a major energy business. Whether your experience comes from industry or a senior consultancy background, this is your opportunity to make a real impact on the UK’s energy transition and contribute to a more sustainable world.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll inspire and guide a talented tax team, supporting their development and ensuring we deliver on our annual objectives. Working at the heart of a UK tax group that includes around 30 subsidiary companies and joint ventures, you’ll help manage significant ongoing capital investment—over £2 billion annually—across our networks, renewables, and retail businesses.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the UK and global businesses and with external advisers, bringing your expertise to major transactions and projects that shape the future of a leading energy company.

You’ll keep up to date with the evolving tax landscape, identifying risks and opportunities, and you’ll build strong, positive relationships with stakeholders including business teams, HMRC, and auditors. And you’ll always be looking for ways to drive improvements and efficiencies, helping us stay ahead in a fast-changing environment.

What you’ll bring

You’ll bring significant commercial tax experience and be adept at navigating the complexities inherent to large, regulated organisations—preferably within the energy or utilities sector—whether your background is in a senior consultancy position or industry role.

You’ll hold a Chartered Tax Adviser and/or Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent). Your up-to-date knowledge of business taxes and tax reporting will be matched by your ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions. You’ll have a proven track record of leading and developing teams, and you’ll be a confident communicator, able to explain tax matters clearly to a wide range of audiences. And you’ll bring a collaborative, flexible approach, with the ability to plan, organise, and deliver in a dynamic environment.

What’s in it for you

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.

At ScottishPower, we believe it’s the little things we do in life that make a big difference. From helping you look after your family’s wellbeing, save for your future and take personal steps for climate action – our benefits are designed to help you do just that - so that you have everything you need to take care of your world – today and tomorrow.
