The Digital Operations and Services Manager will oversee our Digital Operations and Services team and provide support and guidance to the team. Our ideal candidate in this role is a proven people leader who has experience leading multiple servicing and operational functions within financial services. You will have the opportunity to modernize our current payment channels for various processes such as wires, drafts, ACH, check clearing, item processing, cash ordering, dormant account processing, and payroll posting. This critical role not only provides systems and back-office support for all related processes but is also responsible for the research, development, and implementation of enhancements to UHCU's payment channels.
This role will be onsite at our headquarters in Austin, TX.
What you will do:
We are looking for someone who can bring their passion for member service to the forefront, cultivating a service-oriented team culture, while building and leading a high-performance team. You will need to work collaboratively with all departments within the organization, meet with vendors on a routine basis, and lead numerous project management tasks. You will ensure new product features and functionality are designed with a high level of security, managing risk vs. reward and staying informed of industry standards and requirements.
In addition, this position will be helping develop the roadmap for department success. We are looking for a creative, passionate, and resourceful individual that is able to support the AVP of Digital Operations & Services, bringing new ideas and resources to the table.
Management Responsibilities
- Manage direct reports and team through planning, directing, and organizing departmental duties. Ensure department meets service level expectations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the departmental tasks and functions and provide support to the team.
Operations & Compliance
- Maintain monthly reports for management that display transaction volumes across various payment and item processing channels. Make note of trends, issues, and opportunities, and discuss with management.
- Recommend fraud and risk mitigation methods aimed towards improving the security of payment processes.
- Research, develop, and propose new procedures and processes. Review policies, procedures, and processes and update as needed.
Strategy
- Stay current on all payment related products and new technology, ideas or developments related to deposit/payment operations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with fintechs and other financial institutions, participate in related advisory groups, and lead a continuous effort to understand the offerings, influences, trends, and performance against industry peers.
- Assist AVP of Digital Operations & Services with managing and evaluating various third-party vendor relationships for the department.
- Assist AVP of Digital Operations & Services with creating, testing, and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity plans for all areas of the department.

- Self-starter with the ability to plan and prioritize workload for self and others.
- Excellent organization, time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Must be able to successfully work with a team and possess supervisory skills. Proven ability to provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify fraud trends, vulnerabilities, market conditions and make recommendations to maximize performance based on information gathered.
- Ability to manage member conflict, communicate effectively, and research and reconcile accounts.
Here is what you will bring to our Digital Operations & Services Team:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in business or another related field, .
- Minimum 3 years of progressive deposit/payment operations experience or branch operations experience within a financial institution (wire transfers, ACH, check clearing, general ledger entries/reconciling, and balancing techniques).
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience with demonstrated responsibility for hiring, training/coaching, assigning work, motivating staff, writing performance evaluations and disciplinary documents.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, data mining, and reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of credit union federal and state rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively with management to achieve business objectives.
- Familiarity with common financial and legal documents.
