We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Diesel Mechanic Shop Hand to join our team and support the daily operations of our fast-paced shop.
Job Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic Shop Hand will play a key role in assisting mechanics, maintaining shop organization, and performing entry-level repairs and maintenance on diesel trucks and trailers. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the heavy-duty repair industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist lead mechanics with repairs and maintenance tasks on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and related systems.
• Perform basic maintenance services, such as oil changes, tire repairs, and brake adjustments.
• Clean and organize tools, equipment, and workspaces to ensure an efficient and safe environment.
• Move trucks, trailers, and other vehicles as needed within the shop or yard.
• Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and shop supplies; report shortages to the supervisor.
• Help with the installation and replacement of parts under the supervision of certified technicians.
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and guidelines to prevent workplace accidents.
• Conduct pre-inspection setups and post-repair cleanup for vehicles.
• Assist with other shop duties and tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic mechanical knowledge or willingness to learn. Prior experience in a truck or trailer repair environment is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required.
• Positive attitude, willingness to follow instructions, and a strong work ethic.
