Job Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Fleet Manager, the Diesel Mechanic is responsible for keeping our fleet in top condition by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, upfitting truck and trailer platforms, managing parts inventory, and ensuring all work is properly documented. This role ensures that a high level of fleet readiness is maintained, and issues are resolved with accuracy and efficiency. The Diesel Mechanic will work closely with other team members to support company goals while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency to facilitate operational excellence in a fast-paced environment. Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Job Duties) Common activities listed below: actual position responsibilities may vary.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment following factory and industry standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, electrical, and driveline issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance services to reduce vehicle downtime and enhance reliability.
- Modify and adapt truck and trailer chassis, including fabrication, welding, and upfitting.
- Utilize technology, such as diagnostic and Fleet Management software, smart phone/ tablet and electronic systems, to evaluate and repair mechanical problems.
- Manage parts inventory and accurately charge parts and labor to work orders.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and operational needs.
Qualifications: Minimum
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience as a Diesel Technician.
- Valid CDL license & driving record
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- DOT Inspection experience
- ASE Diesel Certification .
- Strong ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical instructions.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and upfitting trucks and trailers platforms.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing engine, electrical, and driveline issues.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as needed.
- Must be at least 21 years of .
Skills Required:
- Must have mechanical aptitude. Be physically able to work in various weather
- conditions. Climb and lift ladders, be able to work around cleaning products and
- equipment for chemical toilet service and repair.
- Effective communication skills, organization and planning skills.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, use proper judgment relating to
- customer’s property and job performance.
- Must be able to enforce safety rules, protective apparel, liquid splash protective clothing,
- personal protective suits, and protective eye lens.
- Understand the principles of safety rules and regulations of working with waste materials,
- according to OSHA requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures.

Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are the representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; move fingers and hands, ability to stoop, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and crouch. Perform the essential duties with minimal or no supervision. Lift and carry up to 50lbs and drag 185lbs.
