Diesel Mechanic Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair, particularly with diesel engines, and will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles, including tractor-trailers. This role requires a keen understanding of schematics and the ability to work with hydraulics and HVAC systems. The Diesel Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our fleet.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including brake repair and alignment.
- Assemble and disassemble engine components as needed for repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct inspections on vehicles to identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
- Repair or replace defective parts, including hydraulic systems and HVAC components.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on each vehicle.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Adhere to safety protocols while performing heavy lifting and working with tools.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role within an automotive dealership or repair shop.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine components and systems, including hydraulics and HVAC.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
- Proficient in brake repair, alignment, and general automotive repair techniques.
- Physical capability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively within a team environment.
