Diesel Mechanic (Experienced)

- Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
- Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions.
- Pre-delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of Caterpillar equipment and allied products.
- Repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, fuel systems, final drives, steering clutches, cross-shafts, hydraulic components including pumps, motors, valves, and all related components, electrical and air systems.
- Write service reports that accurately document activities.
- Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
What our ideal candidate looks like
- At least 5 years' experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
- Must have valid Driver's License
- Proficient computer skills knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if operating properly
- Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
- Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to light to heavy duty vehicles and equipment
- Perform safety inspections of vehicles and equipment and prepare safety documentation required
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
- Interact with colleagues and vendors through both email and phone as necessary
- Perform other duties as required
Working Conditions
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Ability to move and position heavy objects
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.

Physical Demands Of This Role
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is subject to frequently kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds.These physical demands described must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Compensation
$34.00 - $43.00 hourly, dependent on qualifications and verifiable experience.
