Job Description

Summary/objective

Diesel mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles. Their duties include running diagnostic tests on vehicles, test driving vehicles to gauge performance, and maintaining detailed records of the vehicles they have serviced.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in diesel engines and related systems (brakes, hydraulics, transmissions, etc)
• Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical or electrical problems
• Repair or replace faulty parts usingp roper tools and techniques
• Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and inspections
• Keep work environment clean, organized, and well-maintained
• Assist with roadside repairs or on-site service calls when necessary
• Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Competencies

• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or technician
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and work orders

Physical demands

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently
• Ability to work in all weather conditions

• As requested by management

Required education and experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Diesel Technician Certification
• 2+ years working as a diesel mechanic or technician
