About the Role:
As a Diesel Mechanic your primary focus will be diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency on our fleet. You will work closely with a team to perform routine inspections, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement preventative maintenance programs. This role demands a strong understanding of diesel technology, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints. You will also be required to perform road calls for our customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Ohio Driver's license with a good MVR
- Completion of a formal diesel mechanic training program or apprenticeship.
- Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
Qualifications:
- Experience with computerized diagnostic equipment and fleet management software.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards specific to transportation.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and perform welding or fabrication tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections and diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle systems to identify mechanical problems.
- Perform service calls for our customer's vehicles as needed
- Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, including engine parts, fuel systems, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with fleet managers and other mechanics to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks to reduce vehicle downtime.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic issues efficiently.
- Ensure all work areas and tools are kept clean, organized, and safe to maintain a productive work environment.
- Stay updated on the latest diesel technology advancements and repair techniques through ongoing training and professional development.
