Job Title: Die Cast Process Technician
Shift: 1st or 2nd Shift
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Pay: Up to $32/hr. based on experience
Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Die Cast Process Technician to support die cast operations by setting up equipment, monitoring and adjusting processes, and ensuring consistent production of high-quality castings. This role is hands-on, technical, and critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and stable die cast processes.
Responsibilities:
- Set up die cast machines, dies, and trim presses according to established process standards.
- Perform start-up and shutdown procedures for all equipment in the die cast area.
- Adjust machine parameters, including interpreting and modifying Visi-Trak settings.
- Ensure first-piece approval and verify that machines are producing parts to specification.
- Maintain proper lubrication of dies and cores and remove debris/flash as needed.
- Continually monitor machine performance and casting quality throughout production runs.
- Identify and correct process deviations to maintain part quality and machine efficiency.
- Recognize and diagnose common die casting defects and initiate corrective actions.
- Communicate issues promptly to the supervisor and recommend solutions to prevent downtime.
- Visually inspect castings and ensure conformity to quality standards.
- Complete and maintain accurate production paperwork: uptime logs, scrap records, process checklists, and process book inspections.
- Review and update process documentation and follow the Die Cast Flow Chart.
- Support adherence to all quality, safety, and traceability requirements.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with hand tools and basic power tools.
- Experience in die casting, process tech work, or machine setup strongly .
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize casting defects.
