Job Title: Development Engineer (Base Engines)\n\nLocation: Peterborough (Fully Onsite)\n\nSalary Equivalent: £49,519 per annum \n\nContract Length: 12 Months \n\nWorking Hours: Monday to Thursday (08:30 - 16:45) & Friday (08:30 - 16:15)\n\nAbout the Role\n\nJoin a global leader in manufacturing and engineering as a Development Engineer within the Component Engineering Base Engine Team. This position comes at a time of significant investment in clean-sheet engine designs to meet an ever-changing global energy landscape.\n\nIn this role, you will act as a key technical contributor, focused on developing and validating design solutions for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, new technologies, and updates to existing engine platforms. Working in a collaborative, supportive 9-member team, you will interface directly with global manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customers.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nValidation & Testing: Lead, plan, and execute core engine system validation activities, including both rig and complete system testing.\n\nRisk Management: Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on mechanical components and systems to identify design risks and establish testing priorities.\n\nRoot Cause & Troubleshooting: Diagnose production, test, and field issues down to root cause using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D problem-solving).

Implement swift containment actions and develop permanent corrective designs.\n\nCollaboration: Conduct component and system design reviews, keeping peers, team leaders, and global manufacturing stakeholders updated on project timelines.\n\nEssential Requirements:\n\nTechnical Background: An engineering degree is highly (Mechanical or Automotive), though an HNC backed by equivalent hands-on experience and expertise is valued.\n\nEngine Knowledge: Minimum of 3+ years of relevant product development and testing experience focused on internal combustion engines (ICE), preferably Diesel or Petrol.\n\nComponent Mastery: In-depth technical competence in one or more core engine areas: Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather/Cooling systems, Bolted joints, or Sealing.\n\nSoft Skills: Exceptional communication and teamwork capabilities, with a self-motivated approach to managing and delivering complex tasks on time.\n\nDesirable Skills (Not Essential):\n\nExperience running or participating in FMEA and creating DVP&R documentation.\n\nFamiliarity with product lifecycle data management systems like Teamcenter.\n\nBackground in New Product Development following APQP methodologies.\n\nComponent design capability using Creo software.\n\nRandstad CPE values and promotes equality.
