Development Engineer - Mechanical | Peterborough | 12-Month Contract

An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Development Engineer to join a leading global engineering firm, supporting innovation in mechanical power systems. You will work on major new product introduction (NPI) projects and quality improvement initiatives within a high-performing, collaborative team.

What You'll Do



Lead and execute validation tests on mechanical components and systems



Drive root cause analysis and technical issue resolution



Perform FMEA and support quality improvement initiatives



Conduct design reviews, plan testing, and liaise with suppliers



Collaborate across teams to support production and customer-facing engineering



What We are Looking For



3+ years of relevant mechanical development/design experience



Solid understanding of manufacturing principles & mechanical systems



Knowledge of Core Engine systems: rotating systems, valvetrain, castings, lubrication, breather/cooling systems, bolted joints



Education in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering (HNC or degree level)



Excellent communication and teamwork skills



Strong organisational skills and self-motivation



Nice to Have



Experience with Creo, Team Centre, or other CAD/data management tools



Familiarity with APQP, 8D, DVP&R, and FMEA



Prior work on diesel or alternative fuel engines

Location: Peterborough (fully on-site, 5 days/week)



Contract: 12 months (possibility of extension)



Pay Rate: Up to £32.50/hour



Start Date: July 2025



Working Hours: 37/week (Mon-Fri)
