Job Description

We are now looking for an Electronics Engineer to join a rapidly growing developer of Optical Systems in Southampton.\n\nYou will be working primarily in an optics laboratory environment developing and delivering optical systems for standard products and bespoke applications.\n\nReporting to the Team Leader, you will work across the whole design life-cycle of control electronics and firmware for optoelectronic devices ranging from smart modules to full laser systems.\n\nIn addition to the development duties, you will be involved in product delivery activities to meet customer orders.\n\nHaving previously worked in a similar product development environment, you should have a strong attention to detail, enjoy following processes and demonstrate initiative to seek workflow efficiencies.\n\nWorking as part of the development team, you will be responsible for the design, development, build and testing of the system electronics and firmware in the system to supplied specifications.\n\nYou will also aid in the design and delivery of other electronic products within the company’s existing electronic products group.\n\nAdministration duties will include developing and documenting production procedures, and training production staff on procedures.\n\nNow is an exciting time to join a growing developer of optical devices, who can offer a competitive salary package and future personal and professional development opportunities.\n\nQualifications:\n\nIdeally you should have graduated with a relevant Degree Electronics or similar discipline, or have gained equivalent knowledge through working in a similar industry.\n\nExperience:\n\nWith previous experience in a similar role, you should be proficient in electronics design in analogue, digital, and microprocessor technologies.\n\nYou should also have experience of low noise analogue electronics design, particularly for optoelectronics.\n\nA proficiency in C and/or C++ is also essential, coupled with experience developing embedded systems and writing firmware for microcontrollers (e.g. PICs, AVR, STM32).\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nCandidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without requiring sponsorship.
