Designer, Estimator, Outside Sales Apprentice/Trainee
Job DescriptionJob Description
~~~~Growing shade sail design/install firm needs an energetic outside salesperson and designer for a sales trainee/apprentice position.
Ideal candidate will have construction industry or related experience. Mechanical inclination. Experience with 3D design software. Ability to grasp and convey technical ideas to be discussed with potential customers.
Who we are:
SHADE Industries is a custom designer/fabricator of shade sails and tension fabric products. Our typical customers are large-commercial (General Contractors, Architects, cities and counties, etc.), medium-commercial (Hotels, Resorts), small commercial (restaurants, etc.), and residential (usually upscale homes). We design, fabricate and install custom shade with tensioned fabric shade sails and structures. We have grown in sales each year we've been in business. We are located in central Phoenix and Tucson. We primarily do business in Arizona, but occasionally install elsewhere in the country for the right project, or we can ship product to be installed by others. We are currently licensed in Arizona and do a small amount of business in Southern California and Nevada. We do not pressure people into purchasing, rather we utilize a consultative sales approach, trying to be sure we design what will work best for our customers.
See our web site for more information about us: www.shadeindustries.com
What we will provide:
For the right candidate, this really is a ground floor opportunity in a growing industry. There truly are no limits. This is ultimately a straight commission position; however, we will provide up to 24 months of base salary to the right candidate. We will provide hands on training. Leads and direction for development of sales. Great service and product to our customers. Unlimited potential. Software applications (Office, design software, email). Smart phone, laptop. Great commission rates! Opportunities for unlimited growth and income. Currently, we are looking for a person to be in "training" for the first 12-24 months. We expect to have starting pay of $45,000.00 (depending on applicant). After the first 6-12 months, we'd see you beginning to participate in some commissions, ultimately switching to a full commission position when you are "fully trained" (with a minimum guaranteed amount of monthly income). After 12-24 months of training, we would expect first year commissions/salary in the $65-90K range. Sales get easier and larger as you develop relationships and expertise in the industry. We expect to have a few sales persons making $65k -$90k range and a couple "super stars" making $150-200K, plus. Company car is planned to be provided after reaching a minimum sales number.
What you'll provide:
Eagerness to learn. Natural sales ability. Patience---, as many sales take months to close. (Many close in a few weeks, too.) Ability to envision what a customer wants and design what they'll be happy with and will fulfill their needs. Plenty of available time (minimum of 40+hrs per week) Develop relationships with potential customers and stay in contact. Maintain customer data base. Flexibility in work schedule (sometimes people need to meet in the evening or weekend). Must have own reliable car and drivers license. Able to take direction from supervisor. Good phone, in-person conversation, and writing skills. Nice, casual appearance. Good follow up skills. Attention to detail. Someone who recognizes that every interaction has the potential for sales. Must be a self starter with the motivation to keep going. During training you will shadow different members of our team and begin to handle each step of the sales process as you learn our products and processes.
NOTE: The owner lives in Tucson; however, our office is in Phoenix. He commutes daily/weekly as necessary. There is only one other Tucson employee, You will be required to commute to Phoenix, almost daily for the first 90 days. After you begin to have some understanding of our process, you will slowly spend more and more days in Tucson as the work begins to shift towards you doing it, rather than you learning it. We would expect you to commute about 3 days per week for the first year?? Later, after you are "on your own", you'd likely still commute to Phoenix for a "weekly" meeting and spend the day there. All of this is TBD; however, we have found that the frequent commute to Phoenix is going to be unavoidable. If you are not willing or able to make this commute for a long time (it will require extra long daily work hours, too), please don't apply. We will discuss a fuel reimbursement program and explain how our company provided car program works (based on $ sales).
This position is for the sales person with creativity and vision, who is excited that this will be a commission only position. If you like working with people, enjoy being on commission, are interested in the construction and design business, and can see the true potential of our industry and products, send resume, cover letter and references.
