Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager with a proven background in designing timber frame buildings. This role will lead our in-house design function, ensuring all projects are delivered accurately, on time, and to the highest technical and quality standards. You will manage the design process from concept through to manufacture, liaising closely with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams.



Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the design department, ensuring all designs comply with current building regulations, industry standards, and client specifications.

Oversee the development of detailed timber frame designs using CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or specialised timber frame design packages).

Work closely with clients, architects, and engineers to translate concepts into accurate and buildable designs.



*



Manage design programmes and ensure all design deliverables are produced to agreed deadlines.



*



Provide technical guidance on timber frame construction methods, structural requirements, and material selection.



*



Coordinate design outputs with manufacturing and site installation teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Review and approve technical drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.



*



Support continuous improvement in design processes and standardisation of details.



Key Requirements:

Essential: Previous experience in designing timber frame buildings.



*



Proven track record in a design management or senior design role within the timber frame, off-site manufacturing, or structural engineering sector.



*



Strong understanding of structural principles, building regulations, and industry best practices.



*



Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Mitek, hsbCAD, or similar timber frame systems).



*



Excellent communication and leadership skills.



*



Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
