Job Title: Design Manager - Water/Wastewater \nLocation: UK (location dependent on Scheme) \nType: Contract \nSalary: Day rate \n\nIntroduction \nA well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Design Manager to support the delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a contract opportunity to join a high-performing technical team working on large-scale, multidisciplinary programs across Canada. The role offers a diverse workload and the chance to lead design efforts from concept through to construction.
\n\nWho We're Looking For \nWe're looking for an experienced design professional with a strong technical background and proven leadership in managing complex engineering projects. You'll be confident working across multiple disciplines and comfortable navigating the challenges of large-scale infrastructure delivery. \n\nKey Responsibilities \n- Lead and coordinate design activities across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
\n- Manage design budgets, schedules, and resources to meet project milestones. \n- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project requirements, and quality protocols. \n- Act as a liaison between design teams and construction stakeholders during execution.
\n- Oversee design reviews, change control processes, and project reporting. \n- Support project planning, scope definition, and proposal development. \n- Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination meetings and resolve technical issues.
\n- Contribute to project closeout documentation and lessons learned. \n\nQualifications & Experience \n- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution. \n- Minimum 7 years of experience managing design on large municipal water/wastewater projects.
\n- Strong technical proficiency in one or more disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C). \n- Familiarity with BIM workflows and project scheduling/cost estimating tools. \n- Membership with a professional engineering body (e.g.
