Job Title: Design Manager - Façades, Cladding & Roofing

Location: Manchester

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £45k - £60k (Experience dependant)



About the Role



An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager with in-depth knowledge of facades, cladding, and roofing systems to join a leading façade remediation specialist. You will be a pivotal figure in the pre-construction phase, driving design coordination, compliance, and innovation across a range of high-profile remediation projects.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and manage the design process from concept through pre-construction to project handover, ensuring alignment with project requirements and safety regulations.



Develop and coordinate façade and cladding design strategies, detailing, and specifications in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.



Engage in early-stage design development and planning, supporting bid submissions and technical proposals with accurate, compliant design solutions.



Oversee design risk assessments, buildability reviews, and value engineering exercises during the pre-construction phase.



Ensure all designs meet the standards of the Building Safety Act, Building Safety Regulator requirements, and support the Golden Thread of information.



Act as the key point of contact between clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams for design-related matters.



Required Skills and Experience



Extensive experience in a Design Manager or Senior Architectural Technician role, with a strong emphasis on pre-construction design management in façade/cladding sectors.



Strong working knowledge of UK building regulations and façade safety legislation.



Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant BIM platforms.



Demonstrated experience managing external design teams and ensuring the integration of architectural, structural, and MEP designs.



Ability to lead meetings, manage deadlines, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.



Experience with EWS1 certification processes and remediation projects is highly desirable.



Desirable Qualifications



Degree in Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or related field.



Practical knowledge of façade remediation techniques, systems, and materials.
