Turner Lovell is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead ground breaking design initiatives for an international HV cable manufacturer, a key player in the renewable energy and electricity sectors.

As the Design Manager, you'll spearhead high-impact projects, ranging from cable tunnels to HVDC and offshore grid connection projects. You'll ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of quality and safety, collaborating closely with design teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest degree of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all design deliverables, ensuring they are clearly defined, tracked, and executed through design and project phases.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Lead design efforts for both temporary and permanent works, ensuring optimal, robust designs.
- Oversee subcontractor design packages and manage technical approvals.
- Provide guidance on design buildability to both design and construction teams.
- Support designers during tender development by ensuring accurate assessment of budgets, programs, and risks.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Must have worked within power transmission (Min. 1 project experience in Transmission & Distribution, Cable, Substations or similar)
- Familiarity with 3D Design Delivery, including BIM.
- Proven experience in design coordination and project delivery.
- Solid understanding of design office processes, with experience in successful design coordination.
- Knowledge of design standards and procedures, with familiarity in temporary works systems being advantageous.
- Familiarity with German Baustellenverordnung (BaustellV).
- Fluent in both spoken and written German.
- Strong level of understanding of English.
