Design Engineer | Walker, MI

Salary Range: $69,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for manufacturing.
• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models, ensuring manufacturability.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for optimal performance and cost.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams on design integration.
• Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback for continuous product improvement.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new product designs.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) for 3D modeling and technical drafting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication) and their impact on design.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex design problems and develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, CFD).
• Hands-on prototyping or workshop experience.
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes beyond primary design scope (e.g., welding, casting, injection molding).
